Land Acknowledgement

As educators and students within the Religious Studies Department at Å·ÃÀÐÔ°® in Saratoga Springs, New York, it is with gratitude that we acknowledge and honor that we work and learn on thehomelands of the Mohican, Abenaki, and Haudenosaunee, particularly the Kanien'keha':ka(Mohawk). We recognize that these Nations are the traditional stewards of the lands and waters of Saratoga Springs, which are considered a sacred place of peace to be shared by all. We pay honor and respect to these caretakers of the land, past and present, as we commit to:

  • Representing diverse Indigenous voices and perspectives within our coursework
  • Challenging settler colonialist ideologies that seek to erase the histories and lived realities of Indigenous peoples
  • Supporting local Native cultural revitalization
